Antique 19th Century Primitive Oak Barrel Back Pub Chairs Captain’s Arm Chairs
This is a gorgeous fantastic pair of antique primitive 19th-century oak barrel-back pub or captain’s armchairs featuring curved horseshoe arms, shaped crest rails, turned spindle backs, solid saddle seats, turned legs and elaborate stretcher bases.
These substantial chairs retain a wonderfully warm aged oak finish with exceptional authentic patina and character. Sometimes referred to as captain’s, pub or firehouse chairs, this distinctive barrel-back form is highly collectible and works beautifully in English Country, Victorian, primitive, farmhouse and traditional interiors.
Both chairs show substantial age-related wear, finish variation, old repairs and other imperfections consistent with their age and use. Please see photos for condition. Has had one stretcher repaired, as pictured.
